KataHukum.id – Bringing Legal Information to Everyone
On 2 December 2025, the Indonesia Judicial Research Society (IJRS) published educational content on non-consensual intimate images as a form of sexual violence as part of the 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign on the Katahukum.id platform.
Katahukum.id is a legal information portal that provides accessible, easy-to-understand explanations of legal issues. Developed with support from the Australian Government through AIPJ2 since November 2023, the platform is currently managed by IJRS and works in collaboration with six civil society partners*. This collaboration focuses on information sharing and developing joint campaigns related to women, children, people with disabilities, legal empowerment, judicial processes, and legal aid.
Featuring a Question and Answer (Q&A) format as one of its main features, KataHukum.id has published 272 Q&A entries and reached 2,230 users as of 16 December 2025. In addition to the Q&A content, the platform also provides a translation of the Dutch Criminal Procedural Code, which serves as an important reference for students, researchers and practitioners to support comparative legal reform analysis. Noting that, the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) 1981, which was a revision of the Het Herziene Indonesisch Reglement inherited from the Dutch, makes the Indonesian criminal justice system heavily influenced by Dutch law.
“The legal sector is often perceived as a field with complex technical terms and convoluted concepts. Our grand vision is for KataHukum.id to become a comprehensive, up-to-date, and easily accessible legal information portal and a reliable public education platform for people from all walks of life,” said M. Rizaldi, IJRS Acting Executive Director.
JRS is currently engaging with the National Law Development Agency (BPHN) to explore integration between the KataHukum.id portal and BPHN’s legal information portal, to strengthen and expand public access to legal information nationwide.
